WTM London 2022 was hosted at ExCel London media centre. The event took place on the 8th of November 2022 where Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) delivered a special presentation ‘Maldives Media Meet’ which featured the 50-year journey of the Maldivian tourism industry  highlighting milestones and achievements reaching out to everyone through global media.

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of MMPRC, Mr Thoyyib Mohamed led the Maldives Media Meet where he was joined by delegates such as the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Great Britain, and Ireland, H.E Dr Farah Faizal, Maldives Tourism Industry Pioneer, Mr Hussain Afeef and the Minister of Tourism of Maldives, H.E Dr Abdulla Mausoom.Travel trade, media, and tourism-related organisations representatives attended the event.

A token of the Maldives’ culture and hospitality, Maldivian Feyli (traditional sarong) were gifted to the attendees upon arrival. “Communal Spirit” folklore story from Visit Maldives’ Tales of Maldives books. was recited to the attendees which denoted the very essence of the Maldivian hospitality.

Mr Hussain Afeef, who is considered as one of the pioneers responsible for the inception of the Maldivian tourism industry gave the opening remarks giving a industry perspective about the inception of a new tourism industry, he also added on the key differences between tourism industry of now and then.
