The Maldives, now a Three-time title holder of the World’s Leading Destination

The year 2022 has brought immense glory to the Maldivian nation, along with celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the tourism industry the nation now rejoices in its triumph of securing the title of the World’s Leading Destination for the third year in a row. On the Friday evening of the World Travel Awards 2022 held at  Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Oman, the Maldives won several other awards along with the show’s most prestigious award for the third time in a row. On behalf of the nation the Minister of Tourism of the Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, and The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (CEO & MD of MMPRC / Visit Maldives), Mr. Thoyyib Mohammed accepted the award. The Maldives received the award by standing on top of countries like Dubai, Portugal, Indonesia, and Greece.

The World Travel Awards 2022 also concluded with the Maldives winning the title of the World’s Leading Tourist Board for the first time. Competing with 28 other tourism giants such as  Incredible India, Tourism Australia, and Visit England, MMPRC secured this award as a result of their tireless efforts. Calling it a blessing for the country, Tourism pioneer and celebrated local entrepreneur, Mr. Hussein Afeef expressed his joy about this monumental triumph.
