The Maldives “50 Dive sites Photo Competition” Underway
The Underwater Photo Competition organized by the Ministry of Tourism is underway, this competition is in association with Ocean Geographic and Maldives Alliance of Dive Operators (MADO). With 2022 marking the Golden Jubilee Anniversary, the underwater photo competition was held in the spirit of highlighting the beauty of this coral haven, and it also serves as a survey and an annual health check of the underwater life.
The mesmerizing archipelago comprises 1,192 islands grouped into 26 natural coral atolls and is globally renowned as the birthplace of some of the most beautiful coral reefs.
The photo shoot of Maldives’ 50 Best Sites is scheduled for the 28th of September 2022, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. The 50 signature dive sites of the island have been pre-selected for the photo shoot. Dive centers and schools along with resorts will be registered as official Reef Health Check Centers, and each will book up to two-time slots at any one of the 50 dive sites. All local drivers and visitors with diving experience are encouraged to compete in the competition. Each competitor will submit 5 pictures of the dive site. Prizes will be announced on the 5th of October by a panel of international judges, also a Certificate of Achievement for contribution to the Coral Reef Health Assessment of the Maldives will be awarded to all competitors.
