Beauty of the Maldives Showcased on the “Land of the rising Sun”
With the aim to market Maldives as the world’s leading destination Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives) now has Japan in its sight. The tourism EXPO Japan was the first on-site event on the Japanese soil in which MMPRC participated, ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world. The event was held at Tokyo Big Sight, starting from the 22nd of September till the 25th of September.
Tourism EXPO Japan is globally recognized as one of the biggest travel events of Japan, using this event as a stepping stone MMPRC plans to increase the inbound and outbound flow of consumers and exchange of travel information between the two countries.
Joined by 6 industry partners and 12 representatives, the Maldives and its unique travel experience was showcased on a 63sqm stand space.
Affected by the pandemic this event participation will help improve travel relations of the Maldives with Japan. As statistics show, Japan was the top 9th source Market for the Maldives back in 2019. The Maldives welcomed a total of 2909 travelers from Japan after the country closed its doors for international travel. With this effort and a few more in the pipeline, MMPRC will attempt to capture more from this potential market.
